US military is testing rolling eyeball robots originally designed for Mars | News | Geek.com
This roly-poly, bug-eyed robot may soon be pressed into military service. And although it might look a little goofy, American Unmanned Systems’ GuardBot is built to tackle serious surveillance tasks.
This two-foot-wide model can roll around and transmit video for up to 16 hours, climbing inclines up to 30 degrees and hitting speeds up to 20mph. An operator can drive GuardBot using a remote control program along a pre-set path that it’ll follow using its built-in GPS. It’s also amphibious, though not a terrific swimmer. GuardBot scoots along at a top speed of 4mph in the water. Interestingly enough, GuardBot was originally designed for a very different kind of terrain: the surface of Mars.

St. Louis cops under fire for pausing dashcam moments after assault (VIDEO) — RT USA
camera mounted to a police cruiser in St. Louis, Missouri has captured footage revealing a cop to have stopped its recording process, moments after realizing that it had filmed her colleagues kicking a man.
Attorneys for the man caught being kicked have released the footage recorded from a St. Louis Police Department cop cruiser last year that they say is enough to prove their client was wrongfully arrested and abused by officers of the law.
The dashcam footage released this week documents the moments leading up to the April 10, 2014 traffic stop that ended with 18-year-old Cortez Bufford being dragged from his automobile and repeatedly kicked by police officer and stunned with a Taser.

Police in Denton, Texas, have fired jailer Darius Porter for brutally beating a suspect that was being booked for public intoxication on July 19.
Denton Police released a 20-minute surveillance video on Wednesday, in part to apologize to 38-year-old Jason Bishop for the way he was treated.
The video shows jailer Darius Porter roughing up Bishop, using a leg sweep technique to knock him off balance. Porter then punches Bishop multiple times in the face before throwing him to the ground.
Bishop suffered two black eyes and an open cut on his head. He is still recovering from his injuries.
After investigating the incident, authorities released the video and fired Porter from the Denton Police Station.
